Who
is Maple bee?
The Londoner Melanie Garside aka 'Maple bee' is a very talented
young composer and female singer. Moreover she plays as bassist with her
sister’s Grunge band, 'Queen Adreena', since 2004. She is
also singer and songwriter with the 'Mediaeval Babes', and guitarist/vocalist
with rock band 'Vertigo Angels'. She previews another 'Maple bee'
solo album in 2007.
How
does it sound?
'Hello Eve' is primarily a female vocal album built around guitars
and other acoustic instruments, bound together with quirky electronica
and crisp programmed beats.
Melanie Garside aka 'Maple Bee' plays almost every instruments (acoustic
guitar, singing, flute, organs, recorders, bass..).
'Maple' music is a mix of intimistic acoustic pop songs and 'subaquaticelectro'
experimentations... a kind of 'Folktronic' with some pop-rock, post-rock
influence...
Melanie 's voice could remind Alison Goldfrapp or Kate Bush
ones, sometimes powerful or caressing, determined or undecided, reproachful
or tender.
She sings poetic, evocative lyrics inhabited by ghostly characters, angels
and messengers, lights and memories…

Biography :
After
a childhood traveling the world's oceans on a small yacht named 'Rosie'
and living in the middle east with her family, Maple Bee's passion has
always been the exploration and adventure of the exotic and the unknown,
with music playing the central role.
She has released a largely self-produced and recorded CD 'Chasing Eva'
which will become 'Hello Eve' entering the Prikosnovenie label's
catalogue. She has fronted rock bands, played guitar, bass and recorders,
co-written with other writers and producers and toured and traveled extensively
throughout Europe and South-East Asia promoting her work.
In 2004 she also became the bassist of her sister's band 'Queen Adreena'.
Furthermore, she joined 'the
Mediaeval Baebes' in 2003 and is currently studying psychology at
University in London.
